In accordance with Directive 2006/42/EC — transposed into Spanish law through Royal Decree 1644/2008 — all machinery marketed or put into service within the European Economic Area (EEA) must meet essential health and safety requirements.

Therefore, in order for a machine to be sold or commissioned, it must be accompanied by an EC Declaration of Conformity and bear the CE Marking.
